Why a euro today is worth only 91% of a euro in 2011

According to the European Central Bank consumer price index, today's prices in 2020 are 10.47% higher than average prices since 2011. This means that a euro today only buys 90.52% of what it could buy in 2011. The Euro experienced an average inflation rate of 1.11% per year during this period, causing the real value of a euro to decrease.

In other words, €100 in 2011 is equivalent in purchasing power to about €110.47 in 2020, a difference of €10.47 over 9 years.
